It’s our tagline here at Ascension but is much more than that.  This sentence embodies our two-fold mission: To help our members grow in our Savior Jesus, and to reach out to the community and the world with His saving love.  We count it a privilege that God calls us upward in Christ Jesus, through worship and the study of His inspired Word, and at the same time commissions us to move outward in His love.  It’s our ongoing prayer that you will see and experience that “upward in Christ – outward in Love” spirit in everything that we do here at Ascension.

There are 3 key elements to our Sarasota ministry:  Joyful but reverent, mostly traditional Sunday worship through our church;  nationally-accredited, and award-winning Christian education in our K-8 School;  and foundational yet fun learning and life-preparation through our 4-star rated age 3 through Pre-K4 preschool.

Times may change, but basic human needs never do.  People of every age need to know that they are loved, that life has direction and purpose, and that Jesus has an eternal future prepared for us when this life is ended.  Because people want and need this assurance from God’s Word, Ascension Lutheran Church and School stands ready and eager to serve you and your family in whatever ways we are able.

 

Finally, it may be important for you to know that our congregation is not a fly-by-night, independent little congregation.  We have served the Sarasota community for 40 years, and are part of a larger church body that has served our nation and missions around the world for over 165 years.  As a member of the WELS – the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod – we are a part of a global body of churches that are committed to the absolute truth of God’s Word, and the unwavering zeal to share the gospel with the ends of the earth.
